I feel sorry for John McCain. His campaign has turned into a monster and today he finally had to come face to face with its terrifying presence. At a town hall meeting today John McCain had to finally take a stand against the ignorance and hate that his campaign has been instigating. He had to defend his opponent Senator Barack Obama from his own supporters who seem to believe that Obama is Muslim (false), not an American citizen (what?), a terrorist (wow!), and therefore to dangerous for America. It was sad to see McCain in this situation because you could see the sorrow in his face as he had address the mob, a mob that represents the lowest, most ignorant and fearful levels of American culture. A mob that reminds us of the hatred, racism and violence that thrived in this country in the pre-civil rights era. It was sad to see John McCain, a lifelong warrior and champion for this country, face this mob and finally confront his worst nightmare, the nightmare where the ugliest demons of American hate and fear surround him in order to growl, sneer, spit and scream in support of his candidacy for President of the United States of America under the banner of ignorance, racism and fear. I will say that it was good to see John McCain stand up to this mob. It showed me that no matter how much of himself he has had to sacrifice in order to run for President under the bankrupt ideology of the modern Republican party he still maintains a reservoir of integrity that he can tap into I assume for moments like this. In my opinion it is John McCain who must slay this ugly beast himself even at the expense of his own campaign in order to preserve what might be his only and last chance for salvation.

Given the history of politics in this country, it is UNCONSCIONABLE that the Republican Party is turning a blind eye to a hateful campaign by their leader! I hope the Republican presidential/vp candidates (difficult for me to even write their names) realize soon that the responsibility and accountability for the consequences of this kind of campaign rests DIRECTLY on THEIR shoulder, their conscience, their karma. They are inviting the already-disenfranchised segment of American society to descend even further down to hell with them...amazing, sad, pathetic.

It's a dangerous time to start fueling people's fears. It was in the in the fertile ground of economic and cultural insecurity that such personalities as oh say Hitler were able to rise to power and take control. He used his county's fears manipulate them into accepting an unprecedented level of violence. Lets hope that John McCain puts these flames out before they get out of hand. I don't think his will emerge as the next agent of hate on earth. But who knows who's unhinged mind is being inspired by his campaigns methods? Some brilliant yet terrified intellect brewing in the darkness just waiting to evolve into a leader of men under the banner of hate.
