GOOBYE ALTON ELLIS AND THANK YOU SO SO MUCH
I want to take a little break from politics in order to take a moment to acknowledge, mourn and celebrate the life and death of the Godfather of Jamaican Rock Steady music Alton Ellis. He died this earlier this month on October 10th at the age of 70. It was in my best friends basement in high school that my love affair with Jamaican music started and it was the smooth voice and hypnotic tunes of Alton Ellis that were coming off the turntable that sealed the deal for me. Alton Ellis is a musical legend across the world and we will miss him dearly and play his music continuously. Rest in peace Alton Ellis and thank you for all the great music.

OH SNAP! COLIN POWELL ENDORSES BARACK OBAMA! IN YOUR FACE MCCAIN. IT BURNS DOESN'T IT!?
Since resigning as the Secretary of State under the Bush administration and retiring from military and political life Colin Powell has kept a pretty low pro staying out of the political arena and the public eye for several years now. There is no doubt that he continues to classify himself as a member of the Republican party as he has stated publicly and shown in action by contributing money and advice to the McCain campaign. After all he and "the Maverick" are old friends with three decades and many political adventures together to solidify a long and solid relationship. He has already secured his place in history as an American war hero and a legendary statesman who's service and respect transcend party lines. But today in a rumored yet still surprise move he endorsed the candidacy of Barack Obama for President of the United States of America. HOT DAM!!! Conservative pundits are downplaying the endorsement saying things like "endorsements are over rated anyway" and "I don't think this endorsement will have much effect" but COME ON who are you all kidding? This endorsement is HUGE! You don't have Democratic powerhouses endorsing John McCain in order to solidify his self appointed status as a unifier. But you do have conservative powerhouses crossing the isle in order to support Obama. Who's the unifier now? With another historical endorsement for Obama this week, that of the ultra conservative Chicago Tribune, no one can deny that it is Obama's candidacy that is parting oceans and moving mountains. The Chicago Tribune for Christ sakes! A publication who's founding fathers were some of the original architects of the GOP and have NEVER in it's nearly 200 year history EVER endorsed a Democrat for President. These are exiting times and the world is anxiously waiting for Barack Obama to become President of the United States. Colin Powell's endorsement obliterates any argument that Obama doesn't surround himself with a good crew. Because his crew is not just good, it's great (and leaps across party lines). Back to General Powell for a second. I believe that he has felt hurt and betrayed by his party for manipulating him into selling the Iraq war to the American people with false information and faulty intelligence as he famously did publicly at the beginning of this whole fiasco. Since his retirement he has been one of the most consistent critics of the war. Out of the public eye over the last few years I imagine he spends his time at yoga studios and meditation centers trying to spiritually cleanse himself from the poison that his party fed him. I believe that his endorsement today has taken him one step closer to spiritual purity and I commend him for his bravery, his wisdom and his action.

MY ANXIETY LEVEL RISES AT THE NIGHTMARISH PROSPECT OF WHAT A POLITICS OF HATE CAN BRING TO THIS COUNTRY
It's a dangerous time to start fueling people's fears. It was in the fertile ground of economic and cultural insecurity that such personalities as oh say HITLER were able to rise to power and take control. He used his county's fears in order to manipulate people into accepting an unprecedented level of violence. Lets hope that John McCain puts these flames out before they get out of control. I don't think he will emerge as the next agent of hate on earth. But who knows who's unhinged mind is being inspired by his campaigns methods? Some brilliant yet terrified intellect brewing in the darkness just waiting to evolve into a leader of men under the banner of hate.
A TERRIFYING EXAMPLE OF THE RETURN OF AMERICAN IGNORANCE AND HATE VIA THE MCCAIN/PALIN CAMPAIGN
I feel sorry for John McCain. His campaign has turned into a monster and today he finally had to come face to face with its terrifying presence. At a town hall meeting today John McCain had to finally take a stand against the ignorance and hate that his campaign has been instigating. He had to defend his opponent Senator Barack Obama from his own supporters who seem to believe that Obama is Muslim (false), not an American citizen (what?), a terrorist (wow!), and therefore to dangerous for America. It was sad to see McCain in this situation because you could see the sorrow in his face as he had address the mob, a mob that represents the lowest, most ignorant and fearful levels of American culture. A mob that reminds us of the hatred, racism and violence that thrived in this country in the pre-civil rights era. It was sad to see John McCain, a lifelong warrior and champion for this country, face this mob and finally confront his worst nightmare, the nightmare where the ugliest demons of American hate and fear surround him in order to growl, sneer, spit and scream in support of his candidacy for President of the United States of America under the banner of ignorance, racism and fear. I will say that it was good to see John McCain stand up to this mob. It showed me that no matter how much of himself he has had to sacrifice in order to run for President under the bankrupt ideology of the modern Republican party he still maintains a reservoir of integrity that he can tap into I assume for moments like this. In my opinion it is John McCain who must slay this ugly beast himself even at the expense of his own campaign in order to preserve what might be his only and last chance for salvation.
